As part of its ongoing collaboration with the hospital, TKNL was commissioned to design and deliver the audio-visual support systems in the new University Health Centre (CHU) Sainte-Justine pavilion, as part of the Growing Up Healthy modernization project.
Our objective in designing and outfitting the spaces was to provide patients and their families, health care staff, students, teachers, and researchers with a modern, adapted living and working environment that is sensitive to environmental concerns and the impact the Centre would have in the community.
Everything about this project was large: 42 multi-function rooms and two state-of-the-art lecture theaters. The schedule was another element of the large project that had to respected amongst budget, working spaces, hospital operations, patient services, and a continuously evolving schedule of availability for installations. To meet these demanding and fluid concerns, our team had to pre-assemble each of the rooms in our workshops to maximize our on-site time requirements. During the five months of installation, our work remained unquestionably to the highest aesthetic standards for any hospital.
