What if your event attendance could increase fourfold at a moment’s notice? Logistical nightmare? Think again! In a gesture toward openness and inclusiveness, the Liberal Party of Canada let every Canadian who registered attend its 2018 Convention, replacing the traditional limit of a few delegates from each riding.

TKNL responded to this traffic challenge by creating a scalable floor plan with overflow capabilities offering the full convention experience to everyone―and without expanding the budget! Further adaptability was required later when the event, originally scheduled to take place in two separate venues, was moved to a single venue. Our ability to come up with a backup plan fully demonstrated our team’s flexibility, creativity, and technical depth in implementing event solutions.

On site, our team included 17 regular TKNL employees and 29 locally hired technicians. In an effort to keep benefits and experiences gained local, we also worked with five different suppliers from the area. Our experience with the facility team, local labour, and all the suppliers we brought in for decor, equipment, and services highlighted how important involving local experts is to the success of an event.

The result: one of the largest non-leadership conventions ever held by the Liberal Party went of without a hitch, with countless first-timers (more than half of the guests) leaving with positive impressions of their experience.
